I don't plan on using the account other than saving, though in the event of an emergency need to be able to transfer funds to my primary checking account quickly. High yield savings account rates change month to month. You usually do best with an online-only bank, as the big national brands with brick-and-mortar branches tend to have terrible rates. Here's a snapshot right now, though it may not be comprehensive. I'm happy with Discover Bank at 2.1% APY. Into another savings account? Probably not. Ally's rates might not be the best, but they are close enough for it to not matter. If you got an extra 0.1% APY (doable, but probably the best you could hope for), that is $10 per year on your $10K balance.Is that worth it to you? I have discover savings and theyve been solid. If it's direct deposit, funds get there around 3-4a pacific time the day i usually get paid. If im transferring funds from another account to disc it takes time but if youre transferring to savings youre probably not counting on using those funds anyway.
